AMNQ - Blog 1

My sentence from last night's reading was:

"Even after September 11, we carried on.  We heard about how bad it had gotten.  8"

I found this sentence interesting because it brings the happenings of September 11 into the book. I think this is foreshadowing that the happenings of September 11 will somehow effect the family.  They carried on living with expired visas even though the security has gotten much stronger.  I also was wondering about what the narrator meant by "had bad it had gotten".  How bad what had gotten.  Getting work?  Going to school?  Walking down the street?  Immigrating?  I am looking forward to reading how the family deals with the "bad".
